Rare and easily misidentified birds |
The vetting committee checks each survey sheet submitted for accuracy. The sheets are checked to see that all the required information is given and that there are no errors on the sheets. The other task of the vetting committee is to see that the birds listed are likely to be correctly identified. Birds which are rare, or that offer difficulties in separating from one or more other species need to have supporting documentation so that errors can be reduced. All birds previously recorded in the Northern Territory are on the NT list. Categories of rarities and birds offering identification challenges are listed and notes should be available to support records of these. |
